driveby | unpromising perspective
Bei "sound tracks" handelt es sich um eine experimentelle Musikvisualisierung, die im Rahmen einer Bachelorarbeit im Fachbereich "Mediadesign" an der Mediadesign-Hochschule in München realisiert wurde. Anhand der dreiteiligen Komposition "unpromising perspective" der Progressive-Rock Band "Driveby" wurde eine neue Form der Visualisierung von musikalischen Abläufen entwickelt, die sich aus einfachen grafischen Formen zusammensetzt und auf die Eigenheiten der behandelten Musik Rücksicht nimmt.
Das fertige Projekt besteht aus einer Konzeption und schließlich vier Büchern, von denen sich eines mit den Hintergründen der Musik auseinandersetzt und die Erklärungen zu der gewählten Form der Visualisierung liefert, während die anderen drei die eigentliche visuelle Umsetzung der Komposition beinhalten.
"sound tracks" is an experimental form of music-visualisation, created within the scope of a bachelor's thesis in the study course "Mediadesign" at the Mediadesign-University in Munich. With the focus on the threepart composition "unpromising perspective" by the progressive-rock band "driveby" a new form of visualisation of musical flow was developed. It consists of simple forms and tries to account for the characteristics of the music it deals with.
The project consists of a conception and ultimately four books. The first one provides the legend to the music-visualisation as well as background-information to the musical composition. The other three books contain the visual realisation.
book zero : metamusic
"metamusic" beinhaltet die Legende der Musikvisualisierung und enthält darüber hinaus zusätzliche Informationen zu Motivation, Entstehung, Inspiration, dem Aufbau, der Einteilung und den musikalischen Besonderheiten des Stücks.
"metamusic" contains the legend of the music-visualisation and a lot of information concerning motivation, creation, inspiration, structure and the musical characteristics of the composition.
book one : foreshadowing the past
"foreshadowing the past" ist der erste und aus musikalischer Sicht wohl komplexeste Teil der Komposition. Er wird von einem zentralen Hauptthema durchzogen, das sich jedoch in rhythmischen Details fast ständig verändert.
"foreshadowing the past" is the first part of the composition. It's the most complex part and it's ruled by a main theme which is constantly changed by subtle rhythmic alterations.
book two : the sea within
"the sea within" ist der zweite Teil der Komposition und von langsamen dynamischen Veränderungen bestimmt, die eine gewisse atmosphärische Intensität und Dichte erzeugen.
"the sea within" is the secont part of the composition. It's driven by the slow dynamic changes, causing an atmospheric intensity.
book three : struggling with salvation
"struggling with salvation" - der dritte Teil der Komposition - ist zerrissen zwischen hoffnungsvollen, aufbauenden Teilen und zerstörerischen, zersetzenden Ausbrüchen.
"struggling with salvation" is the third part of the composition. It gets torn between more optimistic parts and destructive, dissolving outbreaks.
